| | FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (May 25, 2007) – The common bond of love for this country’s soldiers and the love for fishing led a group of former military personal to create a way to give back. Warriors on the Water was founded two years ago by a handful of men who each served more than 20 years in the military. Last year, 59 active duty troops took part in this special event and this year that number more than doubled. Held at Fort Bragg in N.C., this Army base is known as the ‘Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces’ and houses the 82nd Airborne Division, the XVIII Airborne Corps, the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and the U.S. Army Parachute Team (known as the Golden Knights). |

 | Photo: ESPN Outdoors Jeremy Starks said West Virginia's Friends of Coal has beefed up his sponsorship deal for next year | Usually it's easy to spot the tour-level rookie – he's the guy with the most white-space on his shirt. Rookie Jeremy Starks – a Bass Cat and Evinrude pro from West Virginia – is somewhat harder to spot. That's because he joined the Bassmaster Elite Series this year with a full suite of sponsors, including a major backer that's turned him into a major spokesman.
And once he obtained that premier sponsor, other deals started coming through the door. It was a rookie's dream come true, and he did pretty much all of it outside his own back door. |
